Who can use Dudley at Home

Anyone can view currently available properties using the property search.

However if you want to apply for a property (called bidding) you need to join the Dudley Housing Register.

If you are already on the Dudley Housing Register you must contact us and tell us if there are any changes in your circumstances so that we can reassess your application. Click on How to Contact Us

You will be given your housing register reference number and password which will allow you to bid for properties either on the Dudley at Home website, by telephone, text, kiosk, Digi TV or at any Area Housing Office, Library or Dudley Council Plus.

Who can apply to be on the Dudley Housing Register?

Applicants between 16 and 17 years may register if they are:

  • Married or have civil partners
  • Have a child
  • Are expecting a child
  • Are owed a full homeless duty

All other applicants may register at 17 1/2 but will not be offered a tenancy until aged 18.

Who may not be accepted onto the Housing Register?

We take into account any history of rent arrears, neighbour nuisance, anti-social behaviour and damage to property when considering whether to accept your application.

There are also some people who will not by law be eligible to register. However we can offer advice on other housing options. People who may not be eligible include:

  • people from outside the United Kingdom who are subject to immigration control under the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996
  • people from outside the United Kingdom who fail the habitual residence test
  • European nationals who do not have a right to reside in the UK
